With the cooler weather setting in I love to sip on warm comforting drinks. One of my favorites is this ginger and turmeric latte. If you know you like the flavors of ginger and turmeric you will love this drink, but if you don’t like the spicy bite of ginger and turmeric this may not be for you.

Historically, ginger root has been known for easing gastrointestinal distress. Studies show that ginger contains anti-inflammatory compounds which help reduce pain and improve mobility for people with arthritis (when consumed regularly). These same anti-inflammatory compounds (gingerols) may also inhibit the growth of colorectal and ovarian cancer cells.

Turmeric is another ancient rhizome (root) with wonderful anti-inflammatory properties. It is also known to decrease cancer risk, support detoxification, improve cognitive function, balance blood sugar, and promote healthy kidney function. Studies show you don’t need much to reap the health benefits either, only 1 teaspoon or less! The black pepper helps with the absorption of the turmeric too!

Adding a couple dates for sweetness also packs iron and fiber into this latte. Coconut butter makes it nice and frothy like a latte.
